Cleaning Data - Is it objective?

After cleaning my class data, I have realized that data is not a completely objective process. You can manipulate data when you are cleaning it. By selecting which part of the data to use, you could use only the positive columns of data and leave out the negative. Human answers that are in between inputs, such as saying 2-3 hours could be put in as either 2, 2.5, or 3 hours. Also you can clean a data answer of "idk" to no input or to the closest answer, changing what a person really thought. Human input in cleaning data makes it not completely objective. All of this being said, cleaning data is a very important part of creating data visualizations. Computers can't do everything for us, and without filtering and sorting out data it can be impossible for us or computers to analyze.
