Yesterday in class, we learned about how information is transfered in computers. We reviewed that binary code is a way of representing information using the number 0 and 1. Then we got into partners and used an online tool called the internet simulator. This showed us a simple way of how data is transmitted on the internet.
The first code we set up only had two letters A and B, so we could only send four combinations (AA, AB, BB, BA) which each stood for something. Kim and I were able to transmit this in .5 seconds, where we had to come up with a system to get this to work. I sent the signal when the pulse was at the top, and Kim received them when the pulse was in the middle. Next we were able to use A and B three time to make more in depth codes (AAA, AAB, ABB...). We found these codes harder to transmit as fast, but we still used the same method. Overtime we got better and better at successfully sending our codes.
